NORTHSTAR & TRUCKEE

Labor Day weekend, Village at Northstar.  Every year on this weekend, Tahoe area retailers have huge sales on their ski season items.  The following stores usually participate in huge sales this time of year:  Porters in Truckee, Village Ski Loft in Incline, Village at Northstar, and more!  The deals are unbelievable, and if you need any type of equipment, from goggles to jackets to ski & snowboard equipment, come up for this weekend...it's worth the trip! 

SQUAW VALLEY

End of September, Saturday, Village at Squaw, Annual Oktoberfest.  Bavarian revelry, food, drink and live music at The Village at Squaw Valley annual Oktoberfest celebration. Guests must be 21 years or older with valid ID to consume alcohol.

TAHOE CITY & WEST SHORE

First weekend in October, Saturday & Sunday, Kokanee Salmon Festival, Taylor Creek, Stream Profile Chamber.  Walk through the aspen-surrounded trail starting at Taylor Creek Visitor's Center will lead you to the profile chamber that is located below ground-level adjacent to the creek. The chamber houses a floor-to-ceiling glass bay window that shows fish and other marine life in their natural habitat. During the fall, the annual spawning run of the Kokanee Salmon is a sight to see with their beautiful red color. If you want to see this beautiful sight, this is a great learning experience for the entire family.
