Labor Day weekend, Village at Northstar. Every year on this weekend, Tahoe area retailers have huge sales on their skiseason items. Mid-September, Saturday & Sunday, 10am - 5pm, Annual Truckee Renaissance Faire in Truckee River Regional Park. Faire admission is $10 for adults, $5 seniors & under 12. The Faire is set around the year 1562, at the height of the Renaissance as it influenced politcs & religion in Scotland, England & France. The winemakers are present, the chefs are famous and the view is fabulous! The Thunderbird Lodge hosts four Winemaker’s Dinners from July through October to help raise funds to support this magnificent, Lake Tahoe estate. Your memorable evening starts in the Old Lodge with select wines and appetizers. Tours of the famous historic site are offered and the legacy is shared while you stroll the magnificent lawn and gardens or soak in the sun and enjoy the lakeside view from the spectacular stone terrace.
The chefs work closely with each winemaker to pair their dinner course offerings with the finest California wines. A sunset dinner will be served in our Lighthouse Room overlooking crystal clear Lake Tahoe. The evening will include a lively auction of exclusive Thunderbird items and events, along with the opportunity to purchase some of the evening's select wines.
End of September, Saturday, 2-6pm, Village at Squaw, Annual Oktoberfest. Bavarian revelry, food, drink and live music at The Village at Squaw Valley annual Oktoberfest celebration. Entertainment at the event is free. Spaten Premium lager, Spaten Oktoberfest, Radeberger Pilsner, Franziskaner and will be served during the event. Guests must be 21 years or older with valid ID to consume alcohol.
TAHOE CITY & WEST SHORE
First weekend in October, Saturday & Sunday, Kokanee Salmon Festival, Taylor Creek, Stream Profile Chamber. Walk through the aspen-surrounded trail starting at Taylor Creek Visitor's Center will lead you to the profile chamber that is located below ground-level adjacent to the creek. The chamber houses a floor-to-ceiling glass bay window that shows fish and other marine life in their natural habitat. During the fall, the annual spawning run of the Kokanee Salmon is a sight to see with their beautiful red color. If you want to see this beautiful sight, this is a great learning experience for the entire family. Admission is free, May through October: 8am - 5pm Mon - Sun. KIDS (even adults) WILL LOVE IT!
